“Very good” as a book condition option

Agreed. Use of standard labels (new, excellent, very good, good) would be great. Everyone would know exactly what was intended. I think merging "Fair" with "Poor" and calling it "Reading" would be sufficiently descriptive and have fewer negative connotations. It's another case, as below, where the distinction is very fine and subjective. "Reading" says the book's not pretty, it may be falling apart a bit, definitely not something you want on your living room shelf, but if what you want is to read the book, you want it cheap, and the rest doesn't matter, this is the book for you.

Or use the standard definitions for book grading like they use on other book sites. Biblio.com has them. It's what I use, then I have to translate that to the jargon that Pango uses.

That approach would create unnecessary confusion - having "good," "very good," "excellent," and "like new" as separate categories is too subjective and overlapping. Sellers would interpret these grades differently, leading to inconsistent listings and potential buyer disputes. The current system with clearer, more objective criteria is much more effective.

Renee @ Pango Thanks for considering this improvement!

There is a definite need for a "Very Good" condition category. The difference between "good" and "excellent" is monumental. As a seller, I have to think whether to undersell my book with "good" or oversell with "excellent." Please add this condition category.
